The Excess 11 (37ft) is one of the smallest cruising catamarans capable of offering so much comfort and space, not to mention the thrill of sailing. The Excess 11 is a boat capable of long passages and is made for life on board. The work of the naval architects and designers has been focused on one objective: to create a real cruising catamaran capable of taking you to the most remote spots on earth to enjoy an isolated cove, an abandoned beach or a secret wave.
Excess 11 has benefited from the experience of her elders, without sacrificing all the comfort attributes needed for enjoyable cruising. Add to this a volume worthy of a larger boat, whether in the saloon or in the cabins. On deck, she offers the comfort and friendliness of a large open cockpit and twin helm stations, offering both real steering sensations and direct contact with the rest of the crew.
Excess (XCS) has created a smaller catamaran where life on board is pleasant: a 2-meter wide by 2-meter long (6’6”x6’6”) bed in the owner’s cabin, high comfort bathrooms with separate showers, a dynamic interior enhanced by indirect lighting effects, the helmsman positioned aft in constant contact with the cockpit and its occupants and a clear view to observe the starry nights thanks to the opening roof. Sailing is also exhilarating: real sailing sensations – that can be further boosted with the Pulse line rig – and amazing twin helm stations, and Dyneema running rigging!
This is the synthesis of the Excess spirit: a beautiful, simple, light and comfortable boat!
The Excess 11 is taking a big step forward: a hybrid version is now available for this iconic model. With this addition to the range, Excess displays its innovative spirit and offers another way to live on the sea: gentler, quieter, and more environmentally responsible. We are convinced that this hybrid version meets the expectations of today’s sailors: to take full advantage of the sea while adopting a more environmentally respectful technology.
A Simple, Efficient System
Aboard the Excess 11, electric engines are not directly connected to diesel engines, but powered by a rechargeable lithium battery pack, combining a genset and twin electric engines. The result: quiet docking maneuvers, fully electric cruising whenever you want, and optimized range, with hybrid propulsion
- You leave port with fully charged batteries, recharged at the dock;
- Electric engines (in pods located beneath the hulls) propel you in silence;
- Power for 2 to 5 hours is sufficient for outings, maneuvers, anchorages…
- When you need more power, the generator takes over, sipping fuel
Zero noise and good energy management. In short, hybrid engine power designed for real conditions of use, without compromising reliability!
